BRUNSWICK
A Bath man was taken to a hospital following a collision on Gurnet Road in Brunswick Tuesday night.
The crash was reported at 6:44 p.m. on Gurnet Road, which is Route 24, in the area of Coombs Road. The road was shut down and Coombs Road was used as a detour for a couple hours following the crash.
David Whiting, 77, of Bath was traveling south on Gurnet Road in a 2013 Honda Fit when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, said Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.
“Apparently to vehicles swerved to avoid him but he struck a third vehicle,” Hagan said.
That third vehicle was a black 2008 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Zachary Chapman, 25, of Harpswell, who was headed north on Gurnet Road.
Whiting was taken to Mid Coast Hospital with a potential head or neck injury.
Brunswick’s crash reconstruction team responded to the crash and Hagan said the cause remains under investigation.
