Several weeks ago, I was honored and humbled to have been re-elected by the people of Gorham and Scarborough to represent them in the Maine House.
I am deeply grateful for the faith and trust that you have placed in me. Since my first campaign for the Maine House in 2012, I have knocked on nearly 7,000 doors and listened as voters have shared with me their concerns and frustrations, and their hopes and dreams. During my first term in Augusta, I sat on the Transportation Committee, where I pulled together a group of colleagues in the House and Senate as well as experts in the transportation field to figure out how to fix our broken transportation system. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue this important work in Augusta.
In addition to fixing our roads and bridges, Maine faces many other significant challenges. Thousands of Mainers lack access to a family doctor, our tax system is in real need of reform, the cost of higher education continues to rise and there aren’t enough good paying jobs or opportunities for Maine people.
We’re not going to solve all of our problems tomorrow, this year or over the next four years. I don’t pretend to have all or most of the answers. My commitment is to engage our state leaders – Republicans, Democrats and Independents – in meaningful conversations that lead to problem solving and real solutions.
I hope to hear from you in the weeks leading up to the legislative session and during the winter months to share your thoughts, questions and concerns with me. As always, you can email me at repandrew.mclean@legislature.maine.gov or call me at 939-8482.
