Auction to aid library fund

The Yarmouth Village Improvement Society will hold a silent auction of unique art on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., at the Yarmouth Frame and Gallery, 720 Route 1. Signed pieces have been submitted by artist Lois Dodd, musician Noel Paul Stookey, Gov. Paul LePage, poet Richard Blanco, and many others. Proceeds will benefit the Merrill Memorial Library renovation fund. A gallery reception is planned to begin at 4.

USM singers to perform

The University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers will present a concert of seasonal, sacred choral music Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., at the at Sacred Heart Church, 256 Main St., Yarmouth. The event is sponsored by St. Jude’s Church in Freeport. Works by composers Tallis, Omiccioli, Lauridsen, Shafer and others will be performed. All proceeds will benefit Preble Street Teen Center and Florence House for homeless women. A free-will offering will be taken at the door. The chorus is directed by Dr. Robert Russell, professor of music.

Brad Choyt is featured artist

Brad Choyt is the Yarmouth History Center’s featured artist in the Stonewall Gallery. His assemblages are recent works completed in his Yarmouth studio. These works are abstract designs using various materials such as wood, clay, metal, glass and stone. The pieces have been colored using acrylic, oil and encaustic paint to create cohesive relationships of color and texture.

There will be a reception and artist talk on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Parking ban

The all-night, on-street parking ban is in effect through April 15. This is an effort to keep the streets clear for snow removal. According to the police department, all-night parking is defined as parking for more than one hour between midnight and 6 a.m. This applies to all public streets within the town.

Residents sought to serve on boards

The Yarmouth Town Council is always searching for applicants to serve on the many boards/committees. Those interested should submit an electronic application or contact the Town Clerk at 846-9036 or jdoten@yarmouth.me.us
