CAPE ELIZABETH – St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, at 885 Shore Road in Cape Elizabeth, is launching a new Sunday evening service of prayer and music in the Celtic tradition.

The service called Eventide will begin Dec. 7 and continue each Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Morning services of Holy Communion will continue at 8 and 9:30 a.m.

The Rev. Tim Boggs, St. Alban’s Rector, says, “With Eventide, we are creating a distinctive service for peoples of all faiths to enjoy with the quieter, contemplative Celtic style, including beautiful music, thoughtful words and a time for prayer.”

Eventide will be held each Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at St. Alban’s Church. The service will be led by lay and ordained ministers. St Alban’s aspires to create a fresh time for meditation, reflection and good company.

Inviting Celtic music with occasional traditional hymns will be offered by a quartet of Portland musicians. Mike Albert on oboe and Nicole Rabata on flute, will be joined by cellist Robin Jellis and on the piano, Tom Kovacevic. Two or three of these artists will perform each week.

Communion will be served to all who desire it from an open table.
