TOPSHAM
Topsham residents will have their last chance to attend a neighborhood meeting Monday.
The last of the meetings will start at 6 p.m. Monday at the Topsham Public Library, located at 25 Foreside Road.
A series of neighborhood meetings kicked off Nov. 12, and were scheduled for “neighborhoods” divided based on population in efforts to help increase the response and reach a wider cross-section of residents. Any resident can attend the Monday meeting.
“The selectmen’s goal in holding these meetings is to have an informal time for residents to talk to the board, give ideas, suggestions, complaints, etc.,” Town Manager Rich Roedner said in the initial meeting announcement. “The board is looking for input on the future direction of Topsham, what we are doing well, what we can improve on, what we are doing that perhaps we shouldn’t be doing, and what we are not doing that perhaps we should consider doing.”
Town officials at previous meetings have solicited new ideas from residents, such as how they want the town to communicate with them. Already the town has started a Facebook page as a result of the first neighborhood meeting.
Roedner noted, “We will be taking notes, and then we will respond in writing after the meetings are complete. So in most cases, this is not a question/answer format.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
