The town of Freeport has scheduled a recount of its contested Nov. 4 election for an at-large council seat for 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, in the Town Council chambers.

Challenger William Rixon received six more votes than incumbent Rich DeGrandpre, 2,076-2,070, in the Nov. 4 voting. There were 547 blank ballots. All the votes will be recounted on Monday morning. Questions can be directed to the town clerk’s office at 865-4743, ext. 123.
