Red Stormer Katherine Kirk blasted one past Windham keeper Elizabeth Mycock for the Western Final’s first goal Wednesday night, giving Scarborough a narrow lead they managed to hold on to for roughly 35 minutes.
But the Eagles almost seem to enjoy coming from behind lately, and tallied two – one by Shannon Valente to tie the score, and a second by Jenna Soucy to secure the win – on ever-increasing pressure as the second half ticked toward the buzzer.
Scarborough concludes a remarkable season at 14-1-2, while Windham moves on to Saturday’s state championship versus Edward Little in Hampden. Look for a full writeup of both matches in next week’s Lakes Region Weekly and online.
