State police on Wednesday identified the worker killed by a dump truck in a construction accident on the Maine Turnpike on Tuesday as James Woodward, 50, of Westbrook.
Steve McCausland, spokesman for Maine Department of Public Safety, said Woodward was struck by a dump truck driven by Garry Johnson, 53, of Hollis. McCausland said that both men worked for Shaw Brothers, which is a construction firm based in Gorham.
Tom Biegel, Shaw Brothers vice president, released a statement Wednesday, calling the events of Nov. 4 at the York River Project a “tragedy.”
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Woodward family and all the involved employees from CPM Constructors and Shaw Brothers Construction,” he said.
McCausland said the construction firm is working on the York River Bridge.
