Sagadahoc County and Dresden voters have an opportunity to send a common sense voice to Augusta this election, and that candidate is Linda Baker.
A retired teacher, selectwoman and finance board chairman, Linda Baker has the brains and the courage to make the tough decisions needed to get our spending in order and reduce the cost of living and doing business in Maine. As a retiree, I know the allure of moving to a warmer state with lower income taxes. Linda wants to stop the brain drain of our youth and our retirees who are heading to states with more favorable taxes and job opportunities.
It is time to send someone to Augusta who can say “no” to increased spending and will balance the critical need to provide a safety net for our most vulnerable citizens with the needs of taxpayers struggling to stay in Maine. On Nov. 4, please send some common sense to Augusta and elect Linda Baker.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
