Bill Diamond, the Democratic candidate for State Senate District 26, deserves our vote. Bill always exhibited admirable qualities during his prior tenure in the Maine State Legislature and as Secretary of State. Intellectual curiosity, listening skills and a genuine willingness to seek a fair compromise were among the attributes that make him a success. The experiences gained in shepherding legislation is so important particularly in the current environment of personal attacks and gridlock. His ability to represent a constituency in a professional manner and solicit input from varying viewpoints while thoroughly researching all sides is desperately needed.

An educated workforce is crucial to Maine’s economy. Bill worked in leadership roles in public education for 20 years. He knows the balance between funding successful schools and higher taxes. Jobs are created best by private industry. He started businesses that were highly successful and knows the hard work involved plus the nuances of government regulation. Thirty-four years as a business owner provides great insights.

I encourage voters to support Bill Diamond for State Senate on Nov. 4. I will cross party lines, vote for him and have placed a campaign sign on my lawn next to the one supporting our current governor.
