I am writing to support Sue Austin for our State House District 67 representative. For so many, Sue’s candidacy is a given and obvious selection. For others, perhaps this humble grassroots editorial will serve as testimony to her solid character and proven resume of public service.

Sue Austin has long been a reliable and effective voice in Augusta. She is a fiscal conservative. She is a practical advocate for both local issues and statewide concerns. She is also a friend, neighbor and common face at every local venue this community promotes. She is acutely aware of the challenges we face in lieu of Maine’s financial obstacles and social priorities.

Herein rests the real motivation for my letter to the editor. Sue Austin literally walks the walk. Sue is there for every public event, every homecoming game, and every charity. Sue is always present and accounted for. If only all candidates could profess the same. If you are thirsty for a contender that champions the voice of public interest – she has literally earned your vote. Sue is grounded in our district. She’s lives here. She works here. She plays here.

We are very fortunate to have a candidate like Sue Austin advocating on our behalf. I encourage everyone to do the research, ask all key questions, and make an informed decision on your chosen representative in Augusta come Nov. 4.
