CCGNG Holiday Assistance
The Caring Community of Gray-New Gloucester coordinates holiday assistance for families in need within both towns. The tremendous support from the community is what has made this program so successful in the past, and organizers would like to ask you for your help by becoming a sponsor or a donor this holiday season.
Sponsors “adopt” a family through the CCGNG for either Thanksgiving, Christmas, or both. Sponsors supply a meal at Thanksgiving, and they provide a holiday meal and gifts for children (up to age 18) for Christmas. In the past, sponsors have consisted of civic groups, school groups, individuals, businesses, churches, neighborhoods and families.
Common items included in the food basket, which is usually delivered in a box or bag, include turkey; stuffing mix; gravy (can, packets, jar); cranberry sauce or fresh cranberries; potatoes, carrots, squash, green vegetable, celery, sweet potatoes; fruit (canned or fresh); bread mix or fresh rolls; pie (ready-made or mixes to make one or more, whipped cream; and a disposable turkey roaster.
Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor for Thanksgiving can contact Kathy George at kgeorge2@maine.rr.com as soon as possible. Those who wish to be a sponsor for Christmas can contact Mike Marcotte at gngcaring@gmail.com.
Every year there are more families in need than there are sponsors, so monetary donations are necessary and greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to CCGNG, PO Box 1244, Gray, ME 04039. For more information or questions, please contact Christina Foster at 233-0828 or winkers92@yahoo.com. And you can also find information at www.graymaine.org and type in Caring Community GNG in the search box.
