On Election Day I am supporting Byron Watson in the District 51 House race. As the only local candidate in the race, Byron is ready to represent our specific local needs on day one. Compare that to Byron’s opponent who isn’t from our community and will merely be an extreme partisan with no ambition to work with opposing views. Byron understands that nobody truly agrees 100 percent of the time and is willing to reach across the aisle to ensure our communities have representation.
If you’re sick of all the bickering in Augusta and would like to have a representative who grasps our local needs, vote Byron for bipartisanship. Whether you’re independent, Democrat or Republican, let’s all join together this November as one community and vote Byron Watson to the District 51 Maine House seat.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
