Live debates serve a great need in a democracy. I have learned three things from the debates among the candidates for governor.
• Democrat Mike Michaud has confirmed to me what I have heard from the start – Mike Michaud is not too competent. He has no formal education. He has never run a business, and he has been a career politician.
• Had independent Eliot Cutler taken the Democratic Party’s offer to run for governor, we would be looking a totally different horse race.
• I have not changed my position. I will vote for Republican Gov. Paul LePage this November. He will prevail.
