South Portland has been a wonderful place to raise our family. The City Council and staff work hard to make sure our city is vibrant. It is imperative that we, as residents, cast our votes on Nov. 4 to support a cohesive City Council who will take the long view of health, education and environmental issues impacting South Portland.
Brad Fox, a longtime educator, would be a positive addition to the council bringing experienced leadership for complex problems, representing under-served voices in his district and contributing innovative ideas to the city.
Claude Morgan, former South Portland mayor who, among many other accomplishments, signed the Mayoral Climate Change Agreement. One of his top concerns is the environment and his past leadership demonstrates that he would keep our community healthy. He is running against Michael Pock whose term is up. As a District 1 resident, I can say that over his term, Councilor Pock did not represent many residents in our district and remained single-minded in his voting against protecting our city from tar sands. Please support Claude Morgan.
Patty Smith is running unopposed and I’d ask my fellow residents to join me in voting for Fox, Morgan and Smith to move our city forward.
