I support the re-election of Jim Boyle to Senate District 30 for a number of reasons, but as a retired teacher I am most appreciative of Jim’s strong positions on public education.

Boyle fought against the efforts by Gov. LePage to shift more of the tax burden to local towns and cities by reducing state revenue sharing. Local communities should not be put in a no- win situation of either raising regressive property taxes or cutting vital public services such as schools, police and fire protection.

We can also count on Boyle to keep our school tax dollars local rather than diverting them to more privately owned out-of-state virtual schools. His opponent, Amy Volk, proudly stood next to Gov. LePage recently as he shamefully bashed our public school systems and championed charter schools.

A vote for Jim Boyle is a vote to support public schools.
