Pownal selectmen will meet Monday, Nov. 3 and Monday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m., at Mallett Hall.

Halloween party for kids

A Halloween party is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m.-noon, at North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, Pownal. There will be a costume contest, fun and food. All children are welcome. The party is sponsored by the Youth Group.

Beans, spaghetti on supper menu

The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will be holding a public baked beans and spaghetti supper on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu three kinds of beans, spaghetti with meat sauce, potato salad, coleslaw, biscuits and brown bread, pickled beets and assorted homemade pies. Tickets are adults $7, children 4-12 years $3, and free for children younger than 3. The site is handicapped accessible. This is the final supper of the season.

Hunter’s breakfast set for Nov. 8

On Saturday, Nov. 8, the North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will host a hunter’s breakfast from 4-8 a.m. The menu will include hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage, sliced ham, baked beans, pancakes and syrup, assorted pastries (muffins, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls) and milk/juice/coffee. The cost is $8 for those 12 and older, and $5 for youth 11 and younger.

Taking orders for pies

North Pownal United Methodist Church 851 Lawrence Road, is accepting orders for Thanksgiving pies. Cherry, blueberry, apple, custard, chocolate cream and pumpkin cost $12 each. Mincemeat and pecan cost $15. The deadline to order is Nov. 12. Call Nancy at 688-4481. Pies can be picked up Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 9 a.m.-noon.

Trail open house

Residents are invited to see the completion of the marked trail behind Pownal Elementary School, Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9-11 a.m., hosted by Troop 3222. There will be guided walks, with brochures available for tree identification. Refreshments will be provided.

FHS fall fundraisers

Students at Freeport High School are selling holiday? items to raise money for their class expenses, including prom, Senior Week and Project Graduation.? Items will be? available for sale ?at the polls on election day or students can be contacted directly. Seniors are selling citrus. Juniors are selling wreaths and swags. Christmas fair tables available

The North Pownal United Methodist Church is hosting a Christmas Fair on Dec. 5 and 6 at the church, and there are a limited amount of rental tables available. The rental fee is $25 per table. Food pantry on Wednesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.

Thursday service

Men’s breakfast at church

The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor.
