As the state’s winner, Plummer now has an opportunity in national competition to win $10,000 and an appearance on the David Letterman TV show. Plummer will represent Maine in the February 2015 National Grocers Association Best Bagger Championship in Las Vegas, Nev., and will compete against an estimated 39 other state champions

In the Maine competition, Spencer MacLeod from the Wells Hannaford store won second prize, and Nicole Brackett from the Riverside Hannaford store in Portland third prize.

Contestants were judged by speed of bagging, proper bag-building technique, weight distribution in the bag, as well as style, attitude and appearance.

The Maine Grocers & Food Producers Association is a statewide business trade association.
