Scarborough Police have arrested an 18-year-old Scarborough High School student and charged him with carrying a concealed weapon and trafficking in dangerous knives.
According to a press release, Jonathan Germano was found with a spring-loaded switchblade in his backpack and a K-Bar style knife inside a sheath that was tied to the outside of his boot after arriving at school on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
School officials were notified that Germano might have a knife when several students told a bus driver that he appeared to be in possession of a knife and to be sharpening it while on the bus.
No one was hurt and it’s unclear why Germano brought the knives to school. Neither the police chief nor David Creech, principal at the high school, could be reached for comment before the Current’s deadline. See www.keepmecurrent.com for further updates on this story.
