TOPSHAM — Pauline Louise Girard, 88, of Topsham, Maine passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2014, in Brunswick, Maine.

Pauline was born in Bowdoin, to Ernest and Leona (Raymond) Leclerc on June 5, 1926. She grew up in Bowdoin and went to Brunswick High School. Pauline worked as a mill employee for Pejepscot Paper. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening and spending time at their camp in Jefferson. Time with family was precious to her. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have fond memories of her cooking, the warm hats and mittens she knit with love, her hugs and her warm laugh. Pauline was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of the Sisters of Isabella.

Pauline is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bertrand R. Girard of Topsham. Together they have three children, Rachel (Girard) Hanson, Peter Girard and a predeceased daughter, Patricia (Girard) Weber. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and will be remembered fondly by her many friends at Pejepscot Terrace.

She was best known for her independent spirit. She had a strong will and always put her family first. She was very proud to have been able to rock all her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great- great- grandchildren in her beloved rocking chair.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick, with the Rev. Fr. Frank Murray officiating. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Daughters of Isabella in Brunswick.
