Harvey B. Lesh Jr., 88, of Augusta, Maine, and formerly of Harpswell, Maine, is “finally home” on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta, ME.

He was the loving husband of Polly (Heldenbrand) Lesh for 62 years. Harvey was born in North Canton, Ohio, to the late Harvey Lesh Sr. and the late Estella (Hartong) Lesh.

He graduated from North Canton High School, class of 1944. Harvey graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he was part of the Navy V12 program. He was employed as an engineer in the Aeronautical Department for BF Goodrich for 30 years. Harvey was a member of Lisbon Falls Baptist Church where he formerly served on the missions committee and sang in the church choir. One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his “sweetheart” and with his family. Harvey was a do-it-yourselfer building two homes with his wife, one in Ohio and one in Maine, where he had made his home for the last 29 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Leslie E. Auckland and husband, Paul of Sellersville, PA, Alisa G. Irons and husband, Lloyd of Harpswell, ME; two sons, Todd S. Lesh and wife, Janie of Charlotte, NC, Lane D. Lesh of Charlotte, NC; nine grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; a brother-inlaw, Richard Ramsey of Loveland, OH, a sister-inlaw, Joyce Lesh of Burlington, NC and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Ramsey and a brother, Don Lesh.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Lisbon Falls Baptist Church, 555 Lisbon St., P.O. Box 160, Lisbon Falls, ME 04252.

A private burial will take place at Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
