This week I got an email from a Windham person that I know – she has given me permission to share it with readers and she did report it to the Attorney General’s office.

She writes: “Twice in the last week, this happened to me. My telephone rang one day and upon looking at the caller ID, my name and number came up! Of course, curious about this, I picked it up. It was a solicitor! I hung up immediately.

Just a few moments ago, my phone rang and the caller ID showed Clyde Elder’s name on the caller ID, along with his number. Knowing Clyde had been gone for a few years now, I was curious as to whether someone in his family may still have his name and number in the listings. Again, it was a solicitor! When I called back the number on the caller ID, it came up as being no longer in service!

These solicitors are stooping to low levels now and it sickens me. I just wanted to make you aware so that others are not as shocked as I was when this happens to them.”

We’re all sick and tired of the many ways in which criminals try and “put one over on us” and so another reminder: if you think you’re being scammed, contact your local law enforcement officials.
