BRUNSWICK — Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 330 Maine St., is hosting an evening of local talent to benefit this year’s confirmation project Girl2Girl on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m.
Acts include an African drumming group, poets, harpists and a gospel group among others. Refreshments will be served following the program.
There is no charge to attend, but donations are most welcome. Girl2Girl seeks to provide feminine hygiene products to local school nurses and food banks so that girls in need will have access to these products that are not covered by food stamps. Lack of feminine hygiene products often results in local girls missing school each month. The confirmation students hope to help keep girls in class through this service project.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be providing matching funds. For more information, call the church office at 725-6561.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
