WESTBROOK – The Westbrook School Committee will talk behind closed doors this week about possible litigation.

While the circumstances behind the executive session Thursday, Aug. 14, are unknown, the agenda states that the meeting is “for the purpose of consultations between a body or agency and its attorney concerning the legal rights and duties of the body or agency, pending or contemplated litigation, settlement offers and matters where the duties of the public body’s or agency’s counsel to the attorney’s client pursuant to the code of professional responsibility clearly conflict with this subchapter or where premature general public knowledge would clearly place the State, municipality or other public agency or person at a substantial disadvantage.”

Superintendent Marc Gousse said Wednesday he could not comment on the circumstances. He did say no letter of intent to sue had been filed.

The session is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Central Office, and will include School Committee members, Gousse and legal counsel.
