Having grown up in Harpswell, it is very important to me that we are wellrepresented in the Maine Legislature and that our elected leaders are people we can trust. Serving as the State Representative for my hometown has been a real honor and when I chose to not seek re-election, I was concerned with who would take my place.
Jay McCreight has the character and the right skills to represent the communities of East Brunswick, Harpswell and West Bath well in Augusta.
Whether she is volunteering in a Coffin Elementary School classroom, or assisting the local fire department in their fundraising efforts – she is someone who you want on your team. Jay is hard-working and without care for who gets the credit. She can pull from a variety of personal and professional experiences and rally a wide array of people toward a common goal.
Jay is thoughtful and an excellent listener. Through her conversations at doors, she already has a growing list of topics that matter to local people. She is an advocate for those who need one and puts service to others higher than self.
Like me, Jay loves our communities. She will take this job seriously and will represent us well in Augusta. She is the person we want for House District 51.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
