SCARBOROUGH – Late Wednesday night, July 9, a vehicle struck the building at 91 County Road and after reviewing the surveillance video the Scarborough Police Department believes the incident was actually an attempted burglary.

At around 11:30 p.m. a light-colored, tan or grey Toyota Camry is seen illuminating the rear entry door. The vehicle then accelerated backward at a high rate of speed and struck the building just to the side of the door, the police said in a press release.

The vehicle was unable to force entry into the building, however, and in the video the car is then seen fleeing the parking lot. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information should call 883-6361 or the anonymous crime tip hotline at 730-4386. The reference number is 14-20555.
