RICHMOND — Velma B. Johnson, 94, of Main Street died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at her home.

She was born in Washington, Maine, on July 21, 1919, the daughter of George and Lucia Light.

Velma was a past member of Beulah Rebekah Lodge, Richmond Grange and participated in the senior citizen group that met at the Good Shepherd Church.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, playing cards, needle work and spending time with family.

Velma was employed for 32 years at Eaton Shoe Factory in Richmond, retiring in 1984.

She was predeceased by her husband Conrad Johnson, son Paul Withee, daughter Joyce Farr and greatgrandson Adam Withee.

She is survived by sisters Phyllis Newell of Augusta, Elsie Hunter and husband Matthew of Chelsea; sons George Withee and wife Dorothy of Enfield, Conn., Phillip Withee and wife Virginia of Wiscasset, Richard Withee of Brunswick, and Dennis Withee and wife Evelyn of Hooksett, N.H.; daughter Elaine McGuire of Richmond; 18 grandchildren; 39 greatgrandchildren; four great- great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond.

Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
