Dexter Jenks brings band to hometown

Gorham native Dexter Jenks and the South Street Band will perform at 8 p.m., on Thursday, July 10, at Spire 29 on the Square, 29 School St.

The appearance kicks off a national tour that includes the Virgin Islands. A Spire 29 press release described the group’s music as “a high energy, intense mixture of rock, funk and raggae that appeals to music lovers of all ages.”

Returning home to Gorham, Jenks will visit his family, owners of Home Instead Senior Care on Main Street in Gorham.

The Spire 29 release said Jenks received a ukulele for Christmas when he was a Gorham High School sophomore in 2008. It inspired his interest in music.

Tickets for the show at Spire 29 are $10 in advance and $13 at the door; students are welcome. For more information or to buy tickets, call 222-2068 or visit www.spire29.com.
