Slow Down on River Road
According to the town’s website, “the speed limit on River Road has been reduced to 40 miles per hour from the Masonic Hall in North Windham to Bishop Drive near Newhall in South Windham. MDOT reduced the speed limit along this length of River Road due to its condition and the presence of construction for the next year and a half. Please observe the new speed limit and use extra caution in construction zones. Thanks!”
Police Warning
The Windham Police Department has received a number of complaints concerning unsolicited bank checks received in the mail. The person receiving the check is instructed to cash the check and return a portion of the money via Western Union or other electronic means to an address out of state. Generally, these mailings look very professional and may even be delivered by UPS or FedEx. A number of residents in Windham have deposited these checks into their personal accounts only to find out that they are fraudulent. If this happens to you and you are a Windham resident, please report this to the Windham Police Department by calling 892-2525.
Residents should also be aware of any phone call received from an area code (876). (See article on the Seniors, Etc. page in this edition.)

Ye Olde Windham
History seems to be on many minds these days, and if you’d like to read about what it was like on busy Route 202 in the “good old days,” and who lived in these old houses, as well as some other stories about Windham, you might like the most recent book I have compiled. If so, email (kso48@aol.com) or call 892-5381. The summer special cost is $15. Old photos in here, too.
On Friday, Lee’s Family Trailer Sales and Service in Windham conducted a fundraiser to collect diapers and other non-food items for local food pantries. Sheri Huff of Lee’s Family, at left, accepts donations from Mary Ann Pratt.
