Many Brunswick residents missed a great opportunity to learn more about the great danger to public education posed by the Common Core Curriculum by attending a meeting at the Unitarian/ Universalist Church on Tuesday, June 24.
If you are at all interested in learning about how Bill Gates is attempting to privatize all of American public education, please start by reading Reign of Error by Diane Ravitch, Professor of Education at NYU. If you are convinced by Ravitch’s argument, then now is the time to act by contacting your local school board member, talking to Dr. Perzanoski, and speaking about your concerns before the school board. Next, move on to call or email Governor LePage, your local State Representative and State Senator.
Finally, make your thoughts on the dangers to public education posed by the Common Core Curriculum to members of our Congressional delegation, including senators King and Collins, and representatives Pingree and Michaud. Remember that Michaud is the Democratic candidate for Governor and may be elected.
The danger to our kids education is real and we must act now. There is a group in Maine fighting against the Common Core Curriculum. The contacts are: No Common Core Maine on Facebook and www.commoncoremaine.co m

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
