New logo for Founders festival

The annual Gorham Founders Festival, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, has a spiffy new logo on its website thanks to some Gorham High School students.

“I thought it was outstanding,” said Darryl Wright, festival director.

The two-day event features include a reception for descendants of the town’s founders, amusement rides, entertainment, road race, pony rides, team mascots like Slugger from the Portland Sea Dogs and Crusher of the Maine Red Claws; and fireworks.

All events will be at the field adjacent to Narragansett School on Main Street. Free parking will be available at the school.

This year marks the 250th anniversary of the town’s incorporation in 1764, according to Gorham Historical Society information. Gorham’s first town meeting was held on Feb. 18, 1765.
