BRUNSWICK

Foodies, historians and families may have a busy weekend in Brunswick at several planned events.

Around 15 vendors are slated to participate in this year’s annual Taste of Brunswick, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mall, rain or shine.

New participants include Wicked Joe Coffee, Little Red Cup Tea Co., Len’s Fish n’ Chips and Orange Leaf, according to Patti Spencer-Yost, marketing and communications coordinator for the Brunswick Downtown Association.

Spencer-Yost said the event allows locals to expand their palates by sampling a variety of cuisine in one place.

“We have such a variety of restaurants in Brunswick,” said Spencer-Yost. “We’re getting to be known as a foodie town.”

Sea Dog Brewing Co. is providing a separate beer and wine tent.

No pets or coolers are allowed.

The Mink Hills Band will perform at the gazebo at noon, followed by a performance by the Colwell Brothers Band from 2 to 4 p.m.

Pejepscot Historical Society is offering free admission to its museums to those with a Taste of Brunswick wristband.

In recognition of the Civil War’s 150th anniversary, folks from Maine State Music Theatre will be on hand in period costume at the Mall, said Spencer-Yost. MSMT will be hosting Saturday’s Chamberlain Ball starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 2 Columbus Drive. Civil War costume is encouraged but not required. Cast members from the upcoming musical “Chamberlain: A Civil War Romance” will be on hand.
