HARPSWELL — After an eight-month search process, Islands Community Church (ICC) has announced its selection of a new music director.
On Sunday, June 15, Randy Day will be at the keyboards directing the choir and sharing his unique musical talents with the congregation. Day comes to Harpswell from the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hanover, Pa. He has previous experience at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster, Pa., and the Lititz (Pa.) Moravian Church.
Day holds a bachelor of music education degree from Southern University in Tennessee, and a masters in organ performance from Andrews University in Michigan. Since 2001, he has been a violinist and pianist for the York, Pa., symphony and since 2011, he has played violin for the Hanover symphony.
In an unusual achievement, he played a Mass at St. Peters in Rome, Italy, with the Bach Festival Choir.
He is relocating to Brunswick and very much looking forward to experiencing everything that Maine and ICC has to offer. In his spare time, Day enjoys travel, with 29 countries and 42 states on his list to date, along with antiquing, hiking and kayaking.
ICC is a nondenominational church that welcomes all people through its doors regardless of their background or faith.
