On my way into work this morning, I was surprised and stunned to see two South Portland Police Department officers giving a sobriety test to a man at 7 a.m. As I continued on my way to work, I thought about how quickly lives can change at the hands of a drunk driver.

With kids out waiting for the bus or folks on their way into work, tragedy may have been averted due to the SPD stopping this man. I thought about it all the way to work and just want to express my sincere gratitude for the work that SPD does to keep us safe.
