SOUTH PORTLAND — Three teenagers will likely be charged with starting a grass fire at the end of North Marriner Street that damaged part of a home on Monday, May 26.
The fire spread across nearly two acres near the Greenbelt shortly after 3 p.m., according to Police Chief Ed Googins. No injuries were reported, but Googins said damage from the fire was “quite visible” on the side of a nearby home.
Googins on Tuesday said the Cumberland County district attorney is expected to charge at least one suspect with arson, a felony, and the other two with failure to control the fire, a misdemeanor.
Googins would not discuss details of the investigation, aside from saying it is complete.
