Portland Players hosts Texas tale, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
“The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is now playing at Portland Players in South Portland. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. through June 1. Plant, pie sale in Cape, Saturday, May 31
The Cape Elizabeth Garden Club will hold its annual plant and pie sale on Saturday, May 31, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at the IGA in the Pond Cove Shopping Center. Contact Betty Montpelier at 799-0229 for more information, including joining the club.
• Cape Family Fun Day, Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Family Fun Day will be held in Fort Williams Park on June 14, rain or shine. “This year’s festival promises to be the best ever, with more fun and games for the young folks, and great food and music for all,” according to Family Fun Day Committee member, Karen Pride. The always popular dog show will take place at 11:30 a.m. The event also includes a parade, at 10 a.m., a variety of games, food vendors, arts and crafts and more.
• Strawberry “Fest & Feast,” Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28
The Cape Farm Alliance’s 6th annual Strawberry Festival will take place on June 27 and June 28. On Friday, there will be a roast pig and lobster bake. Tickets become available starting June 1 at either Alewive’s Brook Farm or Jordan’s Farm. On Saturday, there will be a farmer’s fair, including local artisans.
• Cape Garden Tour, June 28, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Cape Elizabeth Garden Tour will be held on June 28 all proceeds will benefit arboretum projects at Fort Williams Park. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on tour day. Leading chefs from some of Maine’s best restaurants will come together to fight childhood hunger at Share Our Strength’s 9th Annual Taste of the Nation Maine. This year’s culinary talent includes James Beard, Sam Hayward of Fore Street, Steve Corry of five-fifty-five and Larry Matthews from Back Bay. All food selections will be paired with fine wines, local beers and signature cocktails. Tickets are $125 each. VIP tickets, which include a pre-event reception, are $200.
