On Saturday, May 24, a day of events will be held in Westbrook to celebrate World Fish Migration Day, an international event to call attention to open rivers and migratory fish. There will be a tour of the Presumpscot River, followed by a happy hour at the Frog and Turtle restaurant, and a documentary film.

The day of events is a group effort by Friends of the Presumpscot River, Presumpscot Regional Land Trust, the University of Southern Maine, Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, and The Nature Conservancy of Maine.

“With everything going on with the Presumpscot River, this is an exciting opportunity for people to learn about efforts to bring migratory fish back into the watershed,” said Michael Shaughnessy, president of Friends of the Presumpscot River. “It’s a chance to celebrate the success of the work that’s already been done and look ahead to the future. But mostly we want people to just come out for a good time and connect with the river that plays such a big part in our communities.”

For more information and to RSVP (required for the tour) go to www.presumpscotriver.org.
