RICHMOND — Meranda Martin tossed a one-hitter, and the Richmond High School softball team used 12 hits to run past Valley, 15-0, in East-West Conference play on Thursday.

The Bobcats improved to 5- 0 and visit Greenville for a doubleheader on Saturday, while Valley fell to 0-3.

Kalah Patterson launched a grand-slam home run and singled, Kelsie Obi singled, tripled and drove in a run, Autumn Acord singled and tripled, Cassidy Harriman singled and picked up three RBIs and Martin singled twice and drove in two runs to help herself.

BRUNSWICK 0

Crystal West and Cody Akers combined to limit the Dragons to four hits while striking out nine batters as the Oxford Hills downed Brunswick in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference play at Brunswick.

Ashley Howe had two hits for Brunswick, while KK Teel and Olivia Salvail added a single each for the Dragons. Hannah Escoe went the distance for the Brunswick on the mound, striking out three batters and surrendering nine hits.

GARDINER 17

The host Tigers scored 10 runs in the second inning en route to a KVAC Class B win over the Shipbuilders, who fell to 2-5 and host Mt. View on Monday.

Gardiner (7-0) belted out 18 hits, with Bri Brochu, Lauren Chadwick, Brittany Rollins and Nicole Chadwick each picking up three.

Kristal Smith tossed a twohit shutout with eight strikeouts and one walk.

Jacelyn McNeill pitched for Morse with one strikeout and one walk. McNeill and Meghan Stover each singled.

POLAND 12

The Knights (4-4) pounded out nine hits and took advantage of four Freeport (1-5) errors for a Western Maine Conference win at Poland.

The hosts scored three runs in the first and five more in the second. Sarah Walton’s two-run double ended the contest via the Mercy Rule.
