POLAND — Freeport scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to give first-year coach Bill Ridge his first win in the Falcons’ 5-3 Western Maine Conference high school baseball win over Poland on Thursday.

Peter LaMagna was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Freeport, 1-5 and slated to visit Fryeburg Academy on Monday. Ben Humphries picked up two hits, two RBIs and a run, Bennett Hight single twice, and pitcher Caleb Rice permitted five hits for the mound win.

Kaleb Bridgham was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Knights, who fell to 5-2.

BRUNSWICK 2

The visiting Vikings scored the winning run with a basesloaded walk in the top of the seventh for a KVAC win at Brunswick.

Oxford’s Dalton Rice and Brunswick’s Brady Larson hooked up in a low-scoring game. Larson went six innings, allowing one run and three walks with eight strikeouts. Rice pitched the first five frames on two hits, five strikeouts and two walks.

Blake Slicer relieved Rice. He allowed two unearned runs, two hits and one walk.

Ryan Brescia pitched an inning of relief for Brunswick (4- 2). He walked three and permitted one hit.

Brunswick is slated to host rival Mt. Ararat today at 4 p.m.
