WALDOBORO — Arthur Carroll Davis, age 79, died at his Waldoboro home on April 4, 2014. Arthur was born in Bath and spent most of his life there, a constant companion by his mother’s side, until her death at age 95, residing the past 17 years in Waldoboro with his devoted caregiver Nancy Smith.
Blind since birth, Arthur attended Baxter and Perkins schools. Arthur never let his disabilities get in the way of doing something. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, listening to music, attending events and family celebrations. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.
Arthur loved singing with the radio, a passion developed by singing with his mother playing piano. He loved tradition and could be heard saying “never heard of such a thing” when things were different. Birthday cake must have ice cream and Christmas dinner must have turkey!
Arthur will be deeply missed for his great appreciation of life, remembrance of details, sense of humor and heartfelt laughter by his nephew Michael H. Cornish and wife Christiane, great nieces Cassidy Lewis and Sara Cornish, great nephew Jake Cornish, cousin Mary Fish and family, nephew Kevin and caregiver Nancy.
A graveside service will be at Oak Grove Cemetery on May 9 at 11 a.m.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
