GIRLS
1. Cheverus: Second at the Class A indoor state meet, thanks to sprinter Meredith Willard and distance ace Kiera Murray, as well as strong 800- and 3,200-meter relay teams.
2. Bonny Eagle: Loaded with high-scoring talent who helped lead the Scots to fourth place at the Class A indoor state meet. They’re powered by distance runner Kialeigh Marston, distance runner Mary Szatkowski and middle distance ace Kyaunna Libby.
3. Greely: Finished fourth at the Class B outdoor state meet last year. The Rangers are led again by distance ace Kirstin Sandreuter.
4. Thornton Academy: Coming off a Class A indoor state title, they are led by Amanda Arnold (jumps) Kialeigh Marston (distance) and Kaileigh Harrison (throws).
5. York: Finished sixth at the Class B outdoor state meet last year. The Wildcats bring back their entire 1,600-meter relay team and distance runner Lydia Shaw, who finished with a third in the 800.
BOYS
1. Cheverus: Last year’s runner-up Class A team, the Stags are led by sprinter Jake Dixon, hurdlers Elijah and Isaac Yeboah, and thrower Nick White.
2. Brunswick: Finished fifth at the Class A state outdoor meet. The Dragons return 800-meter runner Christopher Tanner.
3. Scarborough: The defending champions in Class A graduated a load of talent but still won the Class A indoor title. The Red Storm should be in the hunt again with a pack of talented 2-milers, including indoor champion Jacob Terry.
4. Thornton Academy: The Trojans bring back sprinting standout Derek Boissonault, and jumpers Dylan and Andrew Smith.
5. York: The Wildcats finished third last year at the Class B outdoor state meet, led by seniors but with several underclassmen who finished just out of scoring positions.
