Check flood maps

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is in the process of amending the flood maps on which many of the town’s building setbacks and regulations are based upon. Homeowners are urged to come into the Town Office during business hours and take a look at the proposed maps to see if any changes are proposed that might affect their property. The proposed maps for Pownal are on display in the voting room on the first floor of Mallett Hall.

Returnables sought

The Pownal Fire Co. works to support the Pownal Fire & Rescue Department.

In addition to providing food during fires and trainings, the organization purchases work uniforms and equipment for the town’s emergency personnel. The money the fire company is able to donate toward these items helps to keep the fire department’s expenses down. The organization seeks donations of returnable bottles and cans to help fund its work. The Pownal Fire Co. is independent from the town of Pownal and the Pownal Fire and Rescue Department. The bottle building is located behind the town hall.
