SCARBOROUGH – Scarborough police are investigating a car, pedestrian accident that occurred late Friday morning, April 11, at the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and Hannaford Drive, according a press release from the department.
Police and rescue were called to the scene at 11:15 a.m. The initial investigation indicates that a 2005 Pontiac sedan operated by Dorothea Orlando, 51, of Cumberland was traveling north on Route 1 when she collided with a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the road, the press release states.
The unnamed pedestrian, a 46-year old female, was transported to Maine Medical Center, but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The Scarborough Police Department is continuing to investigate the accident to determine if any charges should be brought in relation to the incident.
