World War II veterans are invited to participate in the town of Windham’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony.

American Legion Field-Allen Post 148 of Windham coordinates the Memorial Day events for the town and is looking for Windham WWII veterans to come join the festivities. The Legion would very much like to honor those WWII vets that are still with us. As a special treat, the Legion has scheduled Sonny Richards of Nash Road to provide a unique form of transportation for the WWII vets in the parade. Sonny has a wonderful team of horses and a 12-man wagon that he will provide for the event. Not interested in a horse-drawn wagon? If you still want to participate, the Post will find a suitable ride for you. Vets and caregivers, if you are interested, the Parade will be held on Memorial Day the 26th of May with a start in front of the Town Office on School Road. Attendees will need to be at the start location by 8:45 a.m. Participants will also be recognized at the end of the parade at the Memorial Day Ceremony in front of Windham High School at the flagpole and Veteran’s Memorial.

For planning purposes so that the Legion can plan for sufficient transportation, please have the vet or the caregiver contact the Post Adjutant Dave Tanguay at 892-1306 with the name of the WWII veteran who will attend the events. At that time the adjutant can discuss the logistics for the event.

Not a WWII veteran? Please consider joining the parade and ceremony as well. All local veterans are most welcome to march/walk/ride in the parade.

Dave Tanguay

Adjutant, Post 148
