Snowed In

We all know Sandy’s Flight Deck Restaurant is only open in the summer. That seems like a wise decision by the owners, especially this year. Think of the money they would need to spend on plowing! Letting Mother Nature take card of that pile up seems like a great idea. I only hope the spring thaw happens sooner rather than later. It certainly will be an interesting mud season this year!

Lucky Lady Lakers!

Actually, skill, more than luck, is what brought the Class B Lake Region High School Girls Varsity Basketball team to bring home the championship and that shiny golden ball! Congratulations to the team! Their hard work, dedication, and perseverance are an inspiration to us all. A special shout-out to seniors Tiana Jo Carter, Miranda Chadbourn, Lucy Fowler and Jordan Turner for their audacious playing and managing to help get that championship under their belts before heading off to their next big adventure.

Area Talent Shines

Rosie Schacht, director of the Lake Region High School Vocational Center, and a founding member of the Lake Region Community Theatre, put it best: “I don’t think there is any denying that (the) Lake Region does have talent.” Lake Region Community Theatre’s fun and creative fundraiser, Lake Region’s Got Talent, is down to the wire with six acts heading to the final round. The finalists will compete for $1,000 and bragging rights. The fun part for audience members is they get to cast a ballot for their favorite act. Tickets for the final show will be available at the door and are free for ages 5 and under, $5 for ages 6-12, and $10 for ages 13 and over. The finals will be held Sunday, March 9, at 1 p.m. at the Magic Lantern Theatre on Main Street in Bridgton. Visit www.lrctme.org for more information.

Music to your ears

That’s exactly what the Lake Region Middle School and High School bands promise to deliver on Wednesday, March 12, in the Lake Region High School gym. Come out and hear some great music while supporting out students. The concerts start at 7 p.m. and it’s free for all. Contact paul.greenstone@lakeregionschools.org for more information.

Spring is near but you’d never know it by the massive snow piled up in front of Sandy’s Flight Deck Restaurant in Naples.
