BIDDEFORD — Herve O. Laflamme, 84, of Biddeford, died on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care’s Biddeford campus.
He was born in Biddeford on March 4, 1929, one of 11 children born to Albert and Marie (Binette) Laflamme, and was educated locally.
On May 26, 1951, he married Jeannine Inkel at St. Joseph’s Church.
As a young man, he delivered milk for Landry’s Dairy. He then went on to work at Bates Manufacturing in Saco and Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford for several years. He was then employed at Raymond Gosselin Masonry in Biddeford for 11 years, Saco Tanning Corporation for 11 years and Lund Manufacturing in Saco for six years. He last worked as a custodian at Biddeford High School and the former St. Andre’s School, retiring in 1991.
He enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching local and professional sports, and bird watching. He freely gave of his time to help his friends and neighbors at Prospect Manor.
He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Raymond Laflamme in 2001, Gerard Laflamme in 2004 and Gaston Laflamme in 2012; and also one sister, Laurette Pothier in 2013.
Herve is survived by: his wife, Jeannine, of 62 years; four sons, Philip Laflamme and his wife Julie, Roland Laflamme and his wife Maureen, Rene Laflamme and his wife Patty and Roger Laflamme and his wife Coleen, all of Biddeford; two daughters, Claire Fecteau of Biddeford and Carmen Gaudreau and her husband John of Saco; one brother, Fernand Laflamme of Venice, Fla.; five sisters, Des Neige Grenier of Saco, Rachel Tourigny and her husband George of Biddeford, Rolande Langevin of Saco, Pauline Lariviere and her husband Rene of Nokomis, Fla. and Priscille Rousselle and her husband Roland of Biddeford; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
