Thursday, Feb. 6: The monthly meeting of the Scarborough Historical Society will be held at 7:30 p.m. with a brief business meeting followed by a presentation. The meeting is held at the society, located at 647 U.S. Route 1 (adjacent to the Dunstan Fire Station). All monthly meetings are free to the public. However, donations are always welcomed. The presentation is about one hour in length. Becky Delaware, president of the Society, will speak about the history of buildings and sites located in Scarborough in a Now and Then format.
Saturday, Feb. 8: The Rally to Keep Our Neighbors Warm takes place 9 a.m.-noon at the Oak Hill Fire Station, 246 U.S. Route 1, in Scrborough. Join Scarborough Public Library, Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center, Scarborough Historical Society, Scarborough fire and police departments, Pine Point Ladies Auxiliary, and many others in supporting Project GRACE’s Fuel Assistance Fund. Free activities include tours of the firehouse and police/fire vehicles, bake sale, door prizes, tips on emergency preparedness and home weatherization. Sunday, Feb. 9: The Royal River Chorus will perform show at 3 p.m. at the Scarborough High School. The show features the Average Joes Barbershop Quartet. Tickets are $10, $8 for seniors and $25 cap for families.

Saturday, Feb. 15: From 10 a.m.-noon, join Scarborough Land Trust for a winter walk at Sewell Woods & Frith Farm during the Great Maine Outdoors Weekend. Wildlife expert Gil Paquette will lead the walk, which will end at the farm with hot cocoa and a visit with Frith farmer Daniel Mays. Free and appropriate for all ages. Monday, Feb: 17: A Community Cafe Luncheon will be held at noon at Blue Point Congregational Church, 236 Pine Point Road, Scarborough. Donation is $5 for ages 60 and over, $7 for under 60. Saturday, Feb. 22: The 2014 Cumberland County Republican Biennial Convention takes place 8 a.m.-noon at Westbrook Middle School, 471 Stroudwater St., Westbrook. The county-wide event features a pancake breakfast, candidate forum, town caucusing and a keynote address by nationally syndicated columnist, author and radio talk show host Howie Carr.
