For the 10th year, individuals in Freeport are staying outside for 24 hours to highlight the plight of those among us who don’t have adequate heat or food.
The group, headed by Freeport Community Services’ Sue Mack, along with volunteers Paula O’Brien and Patti Bruce and Scouts from Troop 58, will be out in the elements in front of the First Parish Congregational Church for this year’s “Freeze Out” from 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, throughout the day and night until 10 a.m. Sunday.
They will be accepting cash donations to provide fuel for needy homes in Freeport and Pownal, as well as donations of non-perishable food for the FCS Food Pantry that serves low-income families and individuals.
It has been a very tough winter already for people who barely scrape by; the excessive cold and added program cuts have taken their toll. Please plan on stopping by the church, at 40 Main St. in Freeport, during “FreezeOut” and donating whatever you can to help FCS help our less-fortunate neighbors.
