LEWISTON — The Portland Pirates lost 4-2 to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday night before a crowd of 2,961 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Simon Depres scored twice for the Penguins, who converted a power play in the game’s second minute and never trailed. Philip Samuelsson added a goal and three assists.

Brandon McMillan and Brandon Gormley scored for the Pirates, who lost in regulation at home for the first time since late November. They return to action Tuesday night against Worcester.

Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin, a native of Biddford, made his first appearance at the Colisee since leading his high school to the 2008 Class A state title against Lewiston.

The loss ended a streak of eight consecutive home games in which the Pirates managed at least one point (for a loss in overtime or by shootout).
