NEWRY (AP) — Maine’s Sunday River ski resort has completed a racing event that didn’t involve skiing or snowboarding.
The Red Bull Frozen Rush on Friday featured eight 900-horsepower trucks and professional drivers racing head-to-head on the resort’s unpredictable snowy terrain.
Skiers could watch from some of the ski trails.
Each truck was modified with giant spiked tires designed to handle the snow and ice.
The drivers climbed the nearly mile-long course, ascending 550 vertical feet before returning again to the base of the hill.
